We had another splendid time at the second Okanagan Art Review, this time held at Rena Warren’s new studio in the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Rena took over this studio space in late January and the very first thing she wanted to do in the space was “host some kind of OAR social”. I was more than happy to oblige.
Rena’s studio ran the gambit from a hectic workshop space to a evening social soiree all on the day of our gathering – it’s spring break, don’t you know. It was also great to see so much of her work on display – you can see her paintings in the backgrounds of these shots.
The conversations swung from updates from people’s studio to what was thought of the Okanagan Print Triennial show that had opened at the Vernon Public Art Gallery the evening before – a good number of us had made it out to that, so there were lots of opinions to share. It was also really lovely to see such a great range of ages, areas of expertise and artistic practices. From tried and true painters, to art historians, to print makers and instructors (past and present), all were there.
Thanks to everyone who came out!
